Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the major clash won’t take place until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to morph into an exact copy of any individual they’ve touched with their right hand. The actor, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a rendition of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action show, as in the original manga and animated series.

Escola will work alongside several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, including chief Mr. 0, portrayed by the well-known actor, an emerging star as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as the ruler of the desert kingdom.

Though Bon Clay is a important part of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this signals a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could indicate more adjustments to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the part. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

The platform’s adapted One Piece program is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
