The Latest Casual Game Mode Ignites Intense Discussions Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist called Casual Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option resembles the regular Breakthrough setup but features several notable changes:

  • Every squad has only 8 real players, with the rest made up of 32 bots.
  • Actions performed by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
  • Only two locations can be played: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
  • Elements like Dogtags, accolades, and stat tracking are disabled.

In short, the playlist delivers on its title: it's a casual take of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume there's nothing wrong, since it provides more options for players seeking different methods to have fun with the game. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that not everyone will be happy. In other words, many BF6 fans are mad.

Player Responses: From Fury to Support

"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your rivals," states one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking idea," comments a different user. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, a player notes, "I have no idea where we are going with this game," while another lists all the issues they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."

However, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're liking the new mode. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants prevent it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," says one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this title all the time. Allow them to strike a balance," adds another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," and another applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Valid Criticisms and Player Feedback

Despite the support, there are valid points to complain about the new mode. Some users have highlighted that it could increase queue times even longer for different playlists due to the large amount of options currently available. On a similar note, certain regions already encounter AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a required amount of real players, even though it focuses mostly on combat against bots.

Finally, a major complaints is that Battlefield Portal was meant to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that got canned when they attempted to remove bot farms from the mode. Thus Casual Breakthrough feels like the player base compromising halfway, as per forum feedback. Another labels this addition as the developers "making a mistake significantly, I had so much fun in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made?

If the development team has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and responding to player input. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
