The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial Fall Classic after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.

Behind 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, making him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot other than George Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the sole team that has never reached in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
