The British player made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events of the year due to the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set in the match with Zhu due to the lower back problem that has affected her during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 victories in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route then falling in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
