Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at Age 60.

US entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows such as "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently after undergoing treatment for cancer since 2022, per news outlets.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a statement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Prolific TV Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
